Depending on the event, most hosts stating Black Tie on their invitation require the guests to dress in what is referred to as Creative Black Tie. Creative Black Tie is about combining traditional formal features such as satin lapels and wing collars, with a splash of colour and individuality. Classic Black Tie on the other hand is about the theme Black and White, and in this case a black tie would be required, whether that be a bow tie, fatboy, cravat or any other formal tie.
